Over Easter, we took the short ferry ride from Dubrovnik’s Old Port across the glittering Adriatic to Lokrum Island, a lush nature reserve steeped in history and springtime calm. As soon as we stepped ashore, peacocks wandered through pine‑scented paths, and the ruins of the old Benedictine monastery whispered stories of Archduke Maximilian’s romantic visions for the island. Winding trails led us past exotic gardens, panoramic viewpoints, and the gentle lapping of waves against rocky coves — a perfect blend of nature and heritage just minutes from the city. With the last boat departing, we lingered in the golden afternoon light, making the most of a serene Easter escape surrounded by sea, history, and songbird calls.
