On May 15, 2024, the Tipos Arena Stadium echoed with the sounds of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Starmus music director Stuart Morley, and the harmonious voices of the Boys and Child’s Choir of Slovak Radio. The legendary Brian May, the powerful voice of Celeste Buckingham, the dynamic rapper Tono S, and the iconic Tony Hadley added layers of richness to the night. Simon Phillips’ mastery on drums set the rhythm for the evening, which was further elevated by Rick Wakeman’s world premiere of an original composition dedicated to Jane Goodall. Montserrat Mati’s performance captivated the audience, and Laurie Anderson, a laureate of the Stephen Hawking Prize, presented her solo piece, Ark/lifeboat, adding a touch of introspection to the event.

The Starmus Sonic Universe concert in Bratislava was a symphony of science and sound, culminating in a spectacular second act. Following the stellar lineup of the first part, the evening continued with The Offspring accompanied by the orchestra. Dexter Holland delivered an a capella rendition of “Gotta Get Away,” followed by a full-band performance of one of Queen’s iconic songs. The Offspring then took center stage for their own show, energizing the crowd with their punk rock anthems, creating a night that resonated with the spirit of exploration and innovation.
